A family of seven is tonight sleeping comfortable after they received a new home. The Rotary Club of Belize in partnership with Hand in Hand Ministries this afternoon handed over the keys to the brand new home to Jose Avila and his family. According to President of Rotary Club of Belize, Maria Coyi, throughout the year Rotarians fundraise in order to carry out this initiative.
MARIA COYI "The Avila family was one of the families selected by Hand in Hand Ministry. We build, as the Rotary Club, this is one of our projects; we try to do an annual building of a home for a needy family and so we asked Hand in Hand to work with us and select a family, so that’s how the Avilas were selected. We do fund raising throughout the year and from the funds we raised, we select how much we would want to spend on a house and other projects because we do other projects as well and this is funding we had put aside for the building of a house. We fund it totally and Hand in Hand gives us the expertise, provide the carpenter and we provide the labor along with Hand in Hand. They have a few people helping but Rotarians are the ones who provide labor and the funding for the house.
According to Coyi the new home came at a cost of fifteen thousand dollars.
