This weekend, the Rotary Club of Belize, along with Hand In Hand Ministries, begins a major project to refurbish the school and redevelop it as a place of learning. The Rotary portion of the project is broken down into three phases, beginning with restructuring the current classroom layout, installing new walls, ceilings, burglar bars on the windows, ceiling fans, adequate lighting, and painting the area. This phase should be completed over the next two weekends, using Rotarians, Rotaractors and Friends of Rotary to provide unskilled labour and skilled workers provided by Hand In Hand.
Phase Two will provide food preparation and serving areas for the children in a safe, secure and hygienic building to be constructed. The Lifeline Foundation has committed to support of a feeding program using this facility. The final phase provides for playground equipment and landscaping with the hope of providing a safer environment more conducive to learning
